Christmas Eve Worship - Organ Led

A Light for All People

A light shines,

not just for some of the people,

but for all of the people.

In this time of busyness and running. In an era marked by struggle, confusion, and uncertainty. This is a night to pause. To breathe deeply. To watch how the light of a flickering candle dances and sets the shadows in motion. To trust that even in the deepest night, a light shines for the whole world.

So let's gather in the candle light. Let’s sing a song. Let’s hear the old, old story.

And let’s celebrate the new life that is born for you, for me, and for all.

Let’s save the date, shall we?

Every worship service will feature candle light, Holy Communion, and Christmas Carols as we welcome the Christ child who was born so many years ago, and continues to be born in us today.

10:30am (T)  — 2:00pm (E) — 3:30pm (E) — 5:15pm (T)

Blue Christmas: A Wide Space

Blue Christmas: A Wide Space

Sometimes the hustle and bustle, laughter, and jubilation of Christmas don't match what we're feeling. Maybe someone we love has died and we're grieving. Maybe the dark and cold are impacting our spirit. Maybe family dynamics strain our seasonal rhythms. Whatever respite you're craving this season, come to Blue Christmas.

Wednesday, December 20, on the night before the Winter Solstice, we'll gather in the sanctuary by candlelight from 6:30-7:15 pm. The service will provide space to pause, acknowledge a loss or feeling, and experience the reality that even in our loneliness we are not alone. We'll light candles, pray together, engage in silence, and sing reflective Taize and other songs. Come experience this contemplative Christmas worship opportunity.

Led by Pastor Hayden, Chris Roberts (Worship and Arts Director), and Julie Stevens (Director of the Looking Within Center)

Sleigh Bells Ring... Are You Listenin'? Caroling 2023

Sunday, December 10, from 5-7 pm, middle and high schoolers and their families and friends are invited to come caroling! This is a wonderful chance to spread some holiday cheer to some Gloria Dei folks around the community who really need it this year. We'll meet in the Garden Lounge at 5 pm for a light meal, and then hit the road to sing. Then, we'll come back for some treats and togetherness before calling it a night. The more people who come, the more people we can bless with some Christmas cheer!

Questions? Reach out to Pastor Hayden (kvamme@gloria-dei.com)

Christmas Cantata - A Weary World Rejoices

Christmas Cantata - A Weary World Rejoices

Join us for a Gloria Dei tradition of 40+ years - the Christmas Cantata! Our cantata each year features the Sanctuary Singers accompanied by an orchestra and is a great way to celebrate the Christmas season.

The title of this year’s cantata is A Weary World Rejoices by Joseph M. Martin. Our world is still recovering from a global pandemic. We grieve over the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Political rancor brings increased tension and anxiety. Individuals are dealing with their own stresses and difficulties. In the midst of it all, our cantata reminds us that God sees and cares. Hope shines like a star in the darkness as we celebrate the coming of Jesus, who came to redeem, restore, and renew. He is Emmanuel: God with us - here, today, just as it has always been.
