Better Together | Week 3
It was Sunday morning in the depth of the COVID shutdown. We all sat on our recliners, couches, and chairs. Some of us were surrounded by family, others were on our own. We joined in worship as a congregation spread across countless living rooms, kitchen tables, and rec rooms. We were “alone together.” As a faith community we have navigated this historic time with grace, creativity, generosity of spirit and love of neighbor.
Over the course of the past year and a half, we were reminded of a truth that we too often forget...
We are Better Together.
Over the past year we have worshiped in the parking lot and online together. Together we have re-imagined a Community Ministry Model that strives for wholeness in these divided times. Together we have bolstered our staff by calling two full time pastors after years of vacancies, and renewing our Children, Youth, and Family staffing. Together we have explored the connection between contemplation and action, developing contemplative practices while being of service to the broader community. We have accompanied one another through this unique moment in history, and we are indeed Better Together.
We have a proud history of robust ministry which has brought us through this season and into this new day. Our Better Together appeal has a goal of increasing giving to the Operating Fund by $1,346 per week, or $70,000 per year. Thanks to your generosity over the years, we have maintained our ministry excellence through pandemics and transitions, through highs and lows, and all that life has brought our way. The funds gathered through this campaign will help us to thrive and impact lives here in Northwest Rochester (and beyond) for years to come.
